Mr. Slicker has represented clients in franchise compliance since 1973. In 1978, the Federal Trade Commission promulgated disclosure rules which require the franchiser to provide prospective franchisees with copies of all agreements and an extensive disclosure document before receiving payment for the sale of a franchise. Many states followed by adopting registration requirements before a franchiser could offer or sell a franchise in those states. Effective July, 2009, the FTC's disclosure requirements were significantly revised.
